On May 20th, 2013, an EF5 tornado blazed through Moore, Oklahoma and adjacent areas. Winds peaked at 210 mph and the tornado killed 24 people, injuring 377 others. Ultimately, 1,150 homes were destroyed and and concurred an estimated $2 billion in damages.
Among the hardest hit were two public schools: Briarwood Elementary School and Plaza Towers Elementary School. Seven children were killed at Plaza Towers.
