Founder / President / Executive Director
I am a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin. I love to play tennis, bake, do henna art, and volunteer in my free time.
Volunteering has been a huge part of my life, and it all started with one life-changing experience in elementary school during a trip to India. I looked out the window of a cab and was shocked to see a girl, about the same age as me, begging for food in the scorching summer heat. She wasn't just begging for herself but she was begging to feed her infant sister, whom she held in her arms all day. That day, not only was I thankful for the life I was given, but I also realized that the most terrible thing in the world was to not have a family, a home, or food.
Since that incident, I have tried to help out the local community in any way I can by packing care kits for the homeless in the winter, feeding the starved residents of the Dallas roads, and rebuilding damaged homes for abused women and their families, through the NDSAI nonprofit organization. But after graduating through the NDSAI program, I wanted to take my experiences and the lessons I had learned to continue volunteering. My struggle with weight issues from my childhood influenced me to take matters into my own hands. I wanted to promote activeness in the community to form healthier habits as well as help the victims of tragedies all around the world. That is when I met Autusa, my co-founder. I shared my vision with her and soon found out that she had similar interests. She too had a burning desire to wake up our community to serve the needy and encourage other youngsters to take an active role in the community. This was the beginning of our journey, Raise4aCause.
I have been blessed with such great opportunities and even more, such an amazing family, community, and co-founder to encourage my passion in community service. This extraordinary support system that I have will continue to inspire me each and every day for the rest of my life. My vision is for Raise 4 a Cause to tell the stories of the unheard voices of the world and support them in rebuilding their lives. My mom has always told me that I have the entire world in my hands, but that it is my choice to shape it in any way I please, and that's exactly what I'm striving to do right now.
